In 2024 SRPA and the WA Committee for the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP WA) collaborated with Regional Development Australia Mid West and Gascoyne (RDAMWG) in their nomination for the Economic Development Australia Awards 2024. They summed this up on their social media platforms:
“We are beyond thrilled to share that, in partnership with the Southern Rangelands Pastoral Alliance (SRPA) and the International Year of Rangelands Pastoralists (IYRP) Western Australia Committee, RDAMW&G has been named a finalist in the National Economic Development Awards for Excellence!
Our submission shines in the ‘Regions under 15,000 people’ category, highlighting the incredible work SRPA is doing to lead the way in sustainable pastoral production and diversification across a vast 52.3 million hectares of pastoral land.
Through international resource sharing and knowledge exchange, this initiative isn’t just driving growth in our region – it’s making waves globally by contributing to sustainable rangeland management worldwide.
We’re so proud to be part of something that uplifts our local communities and resonates far beyond our borders.”
The Awards Ceremony in Melbourne was attended by RDAMWG Director of Regional Development, Mark Holdsworth, Chair of IYRP Australasia, Dana Kelly, and Chair of SRPA, Alys McKeough.
